A 73-year-old man was fatally stabbed in Arima on Thursday night, police have confirmed.
The victim, identified as Stephen Lewis—also known by the nicknames “Patches” and “Power”—of Guanapo Street, was attacked outside his home around 10 p.m.
According to reports, residents heard an argument before spotting an unidentified man and woman leaving the premises shortly after.
Lewis reportedly fled the scene, running approximately 150 metres along Guanapo Street before collapsing in the parking lot of Oceanic Supermarket, near the MP’s office.
Emergency responders arrived but found Lewis unresponsive, suffering from a deep wound to the neck.
Police later recovered a bloodstained cutlass believed to have been used in the attack.
An autopsy is expected to be conducted at the Forensic Science Centre to determine the exact cause of death.
