On October 1, Republic Bank announced that its teller systems were experiencing technical difficulties, causing delays across its branches. The bank later confirmed that the issue had been resolved and services were fully restored. To accommodate affected customers, operating hours at non-mall branches were extended to 3 p.m.
This follows an earlier announcement on September 26 from the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services, which warned of delays in issuing social welfare cheques for October due to a technical glitch. Finance Minister later confirmed that the problem stemmed from a malfunctioning printer. Direct deposit recipients were not affected.
Republic Bank has since thanked its customers for their patience and understanding during the disruption.
